Energy Assistance Programs
A team of 100 volunteer contractors from the Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors of America traveled throughout Cuyahoga County on Saturday, Sept. 19th, 2009 to provide furnace tune-ups, water audits and plumbing repairs for senior and disabled residents.
Energy Assistance Programs Application 2009 – 2010
The Ohio Department of Development offers
several programs to help low-income Ohioans
pay their utility bills and improve the energy efficiency of their homes. This application
may be used for any/all of the following programs: Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), Winter Crisis Program (WCP), Summer Crisis Program (SCP), Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP), and/or the Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP).
* For Winter and Summer Crisis Programs (WCP
and SCP) applicants must also make an appointment at a local provider agency.
WCP and SCP applicants should call the Council for Economic Opportunity in Greater Cleveland’s 24 Hour Energy Assistance Appointment Line at 216.518.4014. The TTY number for the hearing impaired is 711.
You may apply for HEAP from September 1, 2009, through March 31, 2010. Once your application has been processed, you will receive a notification letter informing you whether or not you are eligible for bill paying assistance.
What you need to apply:
- Proof of citizenship or alien status for all household members. Proof of citizenship or alien status is required for the primary applicant.
- Completed and signed application.
- Proof of income for everyone living in the household.
- Copies of all heating and utility bills
The Department of Senior & Adult Services (DSAS) conducts HEAP outreach to residents 60+ and adults with disabilities 18+. Call the HEAP Coordinator at 216.420.6830 for individual assistance.
